Volunteers

Much of the work of the Charity depends heavily on volunteers who kindly offer their time and expertise to provide an excellent service to the people they come into contact with.  We currently have in the region of thirty volunteers, who have a wealth of experience and a heart to share the love of Jesus in a practical way.  All our volunteers must undergo CRB clearance and participate in a full training programme.  Ongoing training and development is available to ensure all volunteers are informed of changes in policy or legislation.

Some of our volunteers have been recruited from people who have attended the centre over a period of time, finding that being in similar situations of their own, they are able to empathise and relate to the people the Charity comes into contact with.

Volunteers are responsible for various tasks ranging from driving the Bus to cleaning and befriending/mentoring to biblical teaching.

During the last twelve months Helping Hand has been privileged to witness peoples lives changed and turned around for the better.  Here are just a couple of testimonies from people who have experienced difficulties within their lives and are now volunteering within the work of the Charity.

Testimonies

Gary was a long term heroin user.  David now drives the Bus, supervises clients and takes part in delivering basic bible studies.

David came to us homeless, on the streets of Blackpool and in need of food and clothing.  We were able to help him secure accommodation and subsequently full time employment.  David is now giving of his own time as a volunteer within the work of the Charity.
